New Malbec/Bonarda blend!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new blend – Malbec & Bonarda

Viñalba Malbec Bonarda is made by winemaker Hervé Joyaux Fabre and demonstrates how well these two grape varieties blend together.  Bonarda is the second most planted red grape in Argentina and this wine was created to take advantage of the supple tannins of the Malbec to blend them with the very fresh and crunchy fruit character of the Bonarda.


This wine has already been listed by Majestic Wine where it is available with immediate effect, RSP: £9.99 or £7.99 as part of its mix six mechanic.  Majestic Wine already has 6 other wines from the Viñalba within its range and has listed the brand since it first launched in the UK in 2008.


Viñalba Malbec Bonarda is made from a blend of 90% Malbec and 10% Bonarda from its vineyards in Valle de Uco, Mendoza.   The vines are on grown in the foothills of the Andes, more than 950m above sea level with yields of 60hl/ha.  The grapes were harvested late February to March by hand into small trays of 20kg to prevent damage and then meticulously sorted to select the best grapes for this wine.  Cold maceration takes place at 8°C for 5 days followed by fermentation in temperature controlled tanks at of 25°C with 3 pump overs per day.


This new Malbec Bonarda will be one of the wines available to taste at La Casa del Vino Viñalba in October. This is Viñalba’s very own pop-up shop which is being created as part of the brand’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

La Casa del Vino Viñalba will be the first of its kind in the UK for a still wine producer. The shop will be open to the public from 3 to 7 October and will play a central role in the birthday festivities.  Owners Hervé and Diane Joyaux Fabre will be there from Argentina during the week to present the wines to customers and host a special trade event.
