VINALBA TORRONTES 2011“You may not be familiar with Torrontés but this white grape is a dream partner for lemongrass, lime leaves, coriander, chillies and even ginger. Serve ice-cold and savour its fresh pineapple and grapefruit flavours.”

The summer may finally be here! This weekend could see the hottest temperatures of the year so far so why not enjoy the sun with a glass of chilled Viñalba Selección Torrontés?

Torrontés is Argentina’s signature white grape, and this is a classic example from Viñalba crafted by Hervé. The Torrontes grape is found in many regions of Argentina; Rioja, Salta, San Juan and Mendoza. Ours comes from Mendoza where the high altitude and long summers mean that the wine has wonderfully pure tasting fruit.

If you’ve never tried a Torrontés before, why not give it a go?  If you like dry whites like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, you might be pleasantly surprised.  You can pick up a bottle this weekend from your local Majestic  for just £7.99 (if you buy two).Torrontes sign

The nose is fresh and inviting, with bright tropical fruit notes and citrus hints. On the palate it is complex but wonderfully refreshing, with pineapple and white peach flavours. Our Torrontés is a great match with spicy Asian food such as Thai green curry, spicy prawn skewers done on the barbecue or seafood dishes. It is also delightful on its own as an aperitif.
